FIMBA Canada

FIMBA (International Maxibasketball Federation), the worldwide governing body of masters’ basketball, has appointed Jude Kelly of Toronto, Canada as its Canadian representative.

FIMBA has specifically tasked Kelly with extending its brand in Canada by recruiting Canadian men and women masters’ teams for its August 2015 World Championship Tournament to be held at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida.

Hundreds of teams from around the globe are expected to participate in this bi- annual event that will feature former collegiate, NBA, European pro and Olympic basketball players.

“I’m thrilled to represent Canada as part of this expanding basketball movement,” said Kelly. “Masters basketball is growing worldwide, especially in Canada, and I look forward to promoting that growth and encouraging more players and teams to participate in FIMBA’s international tournaments.”

Jude has played on various 35+ teams in Canada and the U.S. and won a gold medal at the World Masters Games in Torino, Italy in 2013. Kelly was a three- time All-Canadian all-star while playing for Brandon University, helping the Bobcats to four-straight league titles. He is also a popular DJ, and has written for many Canadian newspapers and publications.

“Jude’s appointment literally means we have FIMBA representation around the world, from the north pole to the south pole and throughout the globe,” said FIMBA founder Eduardo Rodriguez Lamas. “We look forward to expanding our presence in Canada with Mr. Kelly’s expertise and ideas.”

FIMBA was founded in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1991 and runs basketball tournaments worldwide.
